Biamp Celebrates 50 Years of Innovation with the Opening of the Biamp History Museum
On April 23rd, Biamp marked an extraordinary milestone: 50 years of innovation, growth, and leadership in professional AV. To celebrate the occasion, employees, industry partners, community leaders, and special guests gathered at the company’s global headquarters in Beaverton, Oregon, for a ribbon-cutting ceremony commemorating the grand opening of the new Biamp History Museum.
The event honored not only the company’s history, but also the people, creativity, and passion that helped shape five decades of technological advancement in the AV industry.
A journey through 50 years of innovation
The newly opened Biamp History Museum brings the company’s story to life through an extensive collection of products, photography, historical artifacts, and memorabilia that trace the evolution of Biamp from a small startup into a global leader in professional audiovisual solutions.
Visitors can explore the innovations, milestones, and defining moments that helped transform collaboration, communication, and sound experiences across industries and around the world.
One of the museum’s most unusual highlights is the story behind the origins of Biamp. The company traces its roots to a member of the legendary Portland band The Kingsmen, known worldwide for the iconic hit “Louie Louie.” That unexpected connection between music and technology reflects a spirit of creativity and ingenuity that continues to define the company today.
As Rashid Skaf, President, CEO, and Co-Chairman of Biamp, shared the following:
“This museum isn't just about looking back—it's about honoring the foundation that allows us to continue pushing boundaries and creating solutions that transform how people communicate and collaborate.”
A celebration of community and culture
The ribbon-cutting ceremony brought together people from across the AV industry and local community to celebrate this important milestone in Biamp history.
Guests enjoyed refreshments while exploring the museum exhibits and reconnecting with colleagues, partners, and longtime supporters of the company. The atmosphere reflected not only pride in numerous Biamp accomplishments, but excitement for what lies ahead.
A particularly memorable moment came from a special performance by the Youth Music Project from West Linn, Oregon—an organization supported through the Biamp Charitable Grant program. Their performance served as a meaningful tribute to the musical roots that helped launch Biamp and ongoing commitment to supporting arts and education within the local community.
Looking toward the future
While the museum celebrates the past, the event also reinforced our continued focus on the future.
Over the past 50 years, the company has consistently evolved alongside the AV industry—developing technologies that improve communication, collaboration, sound reinforcement, workplace management, and mass communication experiences across countless environments worldwide.
That same pioneering mindset continues to drive innovation today.
As Joe Andrulis, Executive Vice President of Corporate Development at Biamp, noted during the event:
“The same pioneering spirit that launched this company in 1976 continues to drive us forward as we develop the next generation of AV solutions.”
Honoring the legacy—and the next chapter
The Biamp History Museum now stands as a permanent tribute to the company’s remarkable journey and the people who made it possible. More importantly, it serves as a reminder that innovation is never static—it continues to evolve with every new challenge, idea, and opportunity.
From its rock ’n’ roll beginnings to today’s extraordinary AV technologies, the Biamp story is still being written.
