The Aspen snow track in Wilrijk, Belgium opened in November 2017 and offers 365-day access to 6000 cubic meters of snow on a 240m long slope. After opening however, it soon became clear to the owners that the installed life safety system was not capable of fulfilling the needs for entertainment audio in the venue. We were asked to provide a budget friendly system which would run in parallel with the life safety system to meet the needs of multiple zones of audio for different applications.
The system comprises of an AUDIOCONTROL12.8 dsp matrix feeding the ski slope itself, the après ski bar and terrace, reception changing room and bathrooms, two restaurants and function rooms. The system is fed from a PMR4000R multi format music player, an internet radio content provider system and a DJ input. The loudspeakers used in the venue vary from MASK8 with SUB2400 subwoofers and MASK6CT in the bar and terrace to CM6T in public areas and one of the first installation of the KUBO3T design series loudspeaker in the reception area. All loudspeakers are powered by Biamp REVAMP and CHAMP amplifiers. The system also allows for the anticipated future expansion of the venue.
