BEAVERTON, Oregon — Biamp Systems, a 33 year old Oregon company and leading international provider of professionally installed audio systems, announced today that it has relocated its headquarters to a larger facility in Beaverton.
As Biamp expands its market leadership position in the commercial audio market, and makes significant inroads with the introduction of its new advanced paging and voice evacuation product, Vocia — the company has outgrown the 40,000 square foot manufacturing facility it has occupied for the last ten years. The new 70,000 square foot Beaverton building on Gemini Drive will accommodate an expansive manufacturing floor and will double the size of Biamp's Learning Center training facilities. The company's global expansion has also precipitated the addition of several new staff members in the manufacturing, engineering and marketing departments for US and International locations over the last 12 months.
"We have continued to experience demand for our technologies as the global economy seeks to recover. We know that distance conferencing systems and Biamp's entry into the advanced paging and voice evacuation market will be key drivers of growth for the company", said Steve Metzger, Biamp president. "With our need to add new people and increase production capacity, we made the decision to expand our corporate headquarters and manufacturing facilities here in Beaverton. Our people are our greatest asset, and the new facility allows us to assure that our growth in development and production can remain under one roof. The new Gemini location is a resource that allows Biamp to develop, produce, and train our customers on our rapidly growing suite of unique products that make up the next generation of networked audio systems."
Continued Growth in Distance Conferencing Foreseen
Biamp pioneered many audio innovations that have led to the improvement of teleconferencing and videoconferencing technologies. Its leadership position in the industry reflects the fact that Audia and Nexia solutions with Sona™ AEC technology, delivers the most authentic distance conferencing audio quality for even the most challenging venues. Today, with tens of thousands of distance conferencing channels worldwide using Biamp technology, Metzger is pleased to note that during the course of the Biamp relocation, the company did not miss one shipment and customers experienced no reduction in service levels.
Paging and Voice Evacuation Technology is in Demand
Biamp's expansion into the voice evacuation and life safety market with the newly released Vocia critical paging solution will enable the company to address worldwide demand for advanced voice evacuation technologies in a wide variety of environments. "Airports, shopping malls, college campuses, stadiums, and other public venues all need intelligible voice systems to meet emerging standards relating to safety," Metzger said. "We're excited to be in position to meet the rapidly growing demand for large, multi-zoned paging and voice evacuation systems with our newly introduced Vocia system."
Benefits of an Expanded Footprint
Biamp's new facility represents an addition of more than 75% over the previously occupied facility. In the new building, additional space is dedicated to increased board level production capacity for the Audia, Nexia and Vocia product lines, which are sold to a network of systems integrators and distributors, who service AV, Operational and IT Professionals in hospital, university campus or airport settings."The additional square footage will allow more room for operations, administration and all other corporate management functions, and will additionally accommodate an expanded Biamp North American Learning Center. This instruction facility is an important function of our business, one that allows our students to work with all Biamp products in a hands-on setting, and to train Biamp employees, sales personnel, integrators, and distributors on how to sell, install and use our products effectively," said Dayna Lyons, director of facilities for Biamp Systems.
