Demonstrating its ability to provide targeted digital audio networking technology in an advanced digital audio platform, Biamp Systems announced that it had supplied four AudiaFLEX systems to China's Shenzhen Civic Centre. Biamp's local representative, Melody Changsha worked with system integrator Peak Development to configure the installation, which also included multiple Nexia and VRAM systems.

Shenzhen Civic Centre is one of the biggest installations of AudiaFLEX in Shenzhen, China. The Civic Centre complex is home to many buildings and organizations including the Peoples Congress Hall. The People's Congress Hall is the central meeting place for many of the main delegates, senators and government officials.
As with any government facility, there are ongoing meetings, debates, hearings and presentations, placing a heavy load on the audio support system. Flexibility, control and networkability are central issues in a large installation such as this, and Peak Development provided the solution by specifying four Biamp AudiaFLEX units in an 8x8 I/O configuration to handle the load in the Main Hall and Auditoriums.
The Main Hall, where congressmen and senators meet, is a very modern facility with advanced lighting and speaker technology, and is well furnished with around 250 theater style seats in the audience.
AudiaFLEX was chosen here because it can be configured with any number of input/output pairs with the ability for multi-channel audio to be distributed seamlessly through a network via CobraNet™ using economical Cat-5 cable. Operators can control the processing power of the entire network via Ethernet, or other popular controllers.
At the Shenzhen Civic Centre, beyond the AudiaFLEX systems in the People's Congress Hall, there was a need for audio processing in an extensive network of six smaller conference rooms. Three of those conference rooms are each supported with a Nexia™ PM, which has 4 mic/line inputs and 6 stereo program inputs. There is an Ethernet port for software configuration and control, and a serial port for third party RS-232 remote control.
The additional three meeting rooms in the complex each have a Biamp VRAM installed, this unit being a 10 input/2 output automatic mixer that is tamper proof with no external controls. All mixer parameters are under microprocessor control and programmable via Windows software.
Finally, in a separate seminar room, Peak Development has added a new Nexia CS audio conferencing processing system to replace a unit that was previously specified.
