In an example of how BIAMP Systems' product portfolio can become an integral and effective part of a contractor's overall value proposition, Phoenix-based integrator Level 3 Audio Visual recently deployed a BIAMP AudiaFLEX® solution as part of an overall design/build/support package at the Rio Vista Recreational Center in Peoria, AZ.
Located just outside Phoenix, the new facility offers the community a river front view, unique architecture with racquetball courts, a child care center, exercise center, video games, a dance studio and aerobics room as well as two separate classrooms. In addition, there are two multipurpose rooms and other spaces that can be rented out for public use. It offers the community a wide range of versatile options for entertainment, exercise or meetings.
Level 3 Audio Visual designed the entire CobraNet-based system around the AudiaFLEX platform, to meet customization specs and end user requirements.
"Because of the versatility of this facility, we had some very special paging and zone requirements," said Jeremy Elsesser, lead design engineer for Level 3AV, "We use AudiaFLEX for all our large distributed audio systems because it is easy to set up and program and offers the sophistication required in a networked facility, while also being very simple for non-trained users to operate. Everybody from staff to the general public would be using it, so the ability of the BIAMP system to be truly set-and-forget was important."
The system includes two AudiaFLEX chassis with the Expi CobraNet input module and VS8 wall volume controls along with Audia TI-2 dual channel telephone interface cards that allow the AudiaFLEX to connect to standard analog phone lines. As designed by Elsesser, the system's versatility is shown by the use of the BIAMP VS8 wall controls for room combining and source selection. This is especially evident in the two classrooms where wireless mics are used. The VS8 allows for source selection, volume control and audio room combining and de-combining. Elsewhere, the dance studio and aerobics room has an A/V rack, CD changer, DVD/VCR, wireless mics and an MP3 input panel and also has a BIAMP VS8 for control.
In this unique paging application, Level 3 utilized the local phone system to serve as the paging system by using the integrated technology represented by the BIAMP TI-2 interface cards as an optional part of the AudiaFLEX system.
