Today, Ralph Lockhart, president of Biamp Systems, announced his retirement from the company effective January 31, 2010. The Board of Directors also announced the promotion of Steve Metzger to executive vice president and chief operating officer, with the intention that he assumes the role of president upon Lockhart's retirement.
Lockhart joined Biamp in 1984 to run its sales and marketing division, and in 1985 he became its president. Under Lockhart's leadership, Biamp has grown from a small operation building mixing consoles, equalizers and PA's, to a company with more than 160 employees worldwide that provides high-quality and innovative audio electronics.
"During my 25-year tenure, I am proud of Biamp's industry-leading reputation for providing quality and reliable products, our superior customer service, and the fact that we've been able to deliver relevant and innovative technology to the AV industry. These are all key factors that have contributed to our success," said Lockhart. "I'm very pleased the board has named Steve as my successor. Steve is a born leader with the right combination of technology expertise and management experience. With his strategic vision, I'm confident he'll continue to build upon the success of this company."
Metzger joined Biamp in 2000. For the past two years, Metzger served as Biamp's vice president of business development where he was responsible for researching emerging technologies, leveraging contacts and relationships to develop new business opportunities, and considering broad, long-term opportunities that would contribute to the overall growth of Biamp. Prior to his role as vice president, Metzger held a business development manager position and served as Biamp's Southeast regional manager.
"Ralph and the board have provided me with a tremendous opportunity to lead a strong and skilled organization and an exceptional management team," said Metzger. "I can't imagine where I would rather be than here, working with this talented team."
